We are growing the team and there is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our multi-discipline workforce.

You will be part of the Engineering team, playing an important part in the work we do, overseeing building schemes and working collaboratively with other disciplines efficiently and effectively. You will use your engineering knowledge and experience to take on important elements of design on the various projects Align works on from schools and public buildings to refurbishments and new homes.

Our Civils team is currently delivering a diverse portfolioof challenging and rewarding projects across the region. This includes a fullseptic tank replacement scheme at Watchtree Nature Reserve in Carlisle, takingdesigns from feasibility through to construction support within a sensitiverural environment. We’re leading highway and drainage design for a majorinfrastructure project at Selby Train Station, integrating SuDS features andcoordinating works in a complex rail-adjacent setting. In Hambleton, the teamis undertaking full estate road and drainage design for a 100+ unit residentialdevelopment, including SuDS strategy and Section 38/104 processes with closeliaison with the Local Authority and statutory undertakers. We’re alsosupporting a fast‑paced commercial scheme in Easingwold, providingcomprehensive civil engineering design for a new supermarket and petrol fillingstation covering levels, drainage, highways interfaces, earthworks andmulti-disciplinary coordination.

We are collaborative in the way we work, offering a broad range of services in Architecture, Sustainability, Building Surveying, Project Management, Civil & Structural, Transport Planning, Bridges, Highways & Drainage Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, CDM, Property Advisory & Estate Management.

We are dynamic and diverse in our approach to projects, from condition surveys of small garden retaining walls to designing multi‑million‑pound structures including schools, historic structures, fire stations, care homes and other public and commercial buildings across the UK. To be successful in this position, you will:

  • Hold a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent with significant post‑qualification experience
  • Be a Chartered Engineer as a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or currently working towards chartership.
  • Be skilled in preparing detailed designs and specifications using PDS and/or Civils 3D, AutoCAD, Micro-Drainage/Flow etc
  • Demonstrate competency in the conceptual and detailed design of infrastructure projects, including earthworks, roads and drainage
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant UK standards, adoptable standards and building regulations
  • Be IT proficient, including the use of Microsoft packages
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
