Are you an experienced BSL Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting deaf or hearing-impaired pupils in an educational setting?

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled BSL Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Birmingham, working closely with pupils who use British Sign Language as their primary means of communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with hearing impairments, using BSL to facilitate understanding and learning.

• Assist the class teacher in delivering accessible and inclusive lessons.

• Support the social and emotional development of pupils, fostering confidence and independence.

• Work collaboratively with the wider SEN and inclusion team to meet the individual needs of each child.

Requirements:

• BSL Level 2 or above (Level 3+ preferred)

• Previous experience working in a school setting (mainstream or specialist)

• Strong understanding of the needs of deaf or hearing-impaired children

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
