At the Apple Online Store (AOS), its Engineering team is responsible for the global eCommerce platform that serves millions of customers around the world. The Apple Online Store team in London is looking for an exceptional Software Engineering Manager with a proven track record of delivering complex and highly scalable software applications. You will possess a deep passion for software engineering and mentoring Software Engineers. As part of the team, you will be responsible for delivering exciting customer‐facing features on the Online Store using Agile practices. You will manage a small team of on‐ and off‐shore Software Engineers.

Description

  • Day‐to‐day leadership of your on‐ and off‐shore Engineering team, with a focus on delivering results, teamwork and innovation.
  • Take responsibility for the overall planning and execution of complex technical projects (using Agile practices) by providing initial and detailed estimates, managing resources, communication to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with your manager, peers and software engineers in the world‐wide team to architect and develop the best technical design and execution approach on all your projects.
  • Drive innovation throughout the Apple Online Store engineering teams.
  • Develop and maintain staff development and succession plans in your team.
  • Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience as an Engineering Manager, architect and/or lead for large‐scale consumer facing web properties.
  • Highly competent in Java / Spring MVC / Service Oriented Architectures.
  • Significant years of experience leading successful software engineering teams, preferably on eCommerce applications.
  • Experience in developing distributed systems, designing and implementing high throughput, low latency enterprise‐wide applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field with proven experience with Agile Development methodologies with continuous complex deployments.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full Software Development Lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
