Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. The Apple Services Engineering team exemplifies Apple’s long-held passion for combining art and technology. Do you believe that generative AI has the power to change how we live, work, and interact, and that privacy and security must not be sacrificed in the pursuit of those groundbreaking experiences? Do you feel a personal stake in everything that you work on, thrive in fast-paced environments with lots of ambiguity, and enjoy working with complex technologies? If so, we want to talk to you!
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Program Manager to drive projects and features for the Private Cloud Compute software that powers Apple Intelligence and support integration of Apple Silicon in Apple Data Centers.
We seek strong fundamentals, but require more. You foster strong relationships, build trust, and influence without direct authority. You communicate openly and clearly, collaborate enthusiastically, and value a culture of healthy debate. You thrive in uncertainty and strive to bring clarity and focus in a fast-paced environment. Technically curious, you will autonomously lead projects of varying scale and complexity with cross-functional development and SRE teams with only consultative direction from leadership. As a program manager in ASE, you will partner with engineers, system reliability engineers, marketing, legal, security, and privacy to launch features that surprise and delight our end-users and developers. This is not a task-based job; you will drive successful outcomes and delivery. We are looking for people with proven track records, depth and breadth in managing and shipping complex programs under demanding timelines. We seek a hands-on technical program manager with a strong project management toolkit, who can get elbow deep in defining requirements, coordinate technical design discussions among multiple teams/partners, navigate conflict and ambiguity to execute the project to a committed timeline.
Responsibilities
- Drive and ship large, multi-functional programs for Private Cloud Compute software delivery.
- Drive the meetings needed to establish and document the scope of the project.
- Plan and maintain the cross-functional schedule for the program, establishing milestones, achievements, and work breakdowns using established templates.
- Partner with Engineering Managers to ensure the work is prioritized to meet the project expectations and offer data and planning expertise for working through prioritization challenges.
- Participate and facilitate teams working through technical challenges and decisions.
- Remain curious to understand and be able to represent the overall system design independently.
- Establish and document known risks, dependencies, and other information central to the project as required.
- Drive the collaboration with other teams within the org and across Apple including Security, Legal, Privacy and Finance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience in project management or Cloud, AI engineering.
- In-depth experience in program/project management successfully leading highly cross-functional software development.
- Naturally accountable and responsible.
- Self-starter, self-motivated, focused, self-sufficient.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, written and verbal, to all levels of an organization.
- Experience as a project lead, able to focus and simplify, balancing the details with goals, priorities, and trade-offs in mind.
- Strong facilitation skills (requirements sessions; design meetings; plan and track progress meetings).
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong technical proficiency: Client/server product development and bonus points for past programming experience.
- Have personally orchestrated the delivery of multiple significant client/server software products, under demanding timelines, managing multiple work streams cross-functionally across a large organization.
