A profitable Main Contractor with a proven track record of delivering projects across Essex is looking to recruit an ambitious and driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor to complement their Commercial Management team working on a variety of projects across the Education, Healthcare, and Defence sectors in the local area.
The opportunity has a clear pathway for progression to Quantity Surveyor level, with full support for further professional development, RICS APC guidance or CIOB and internal training. The business has a robust and long-standing senior level team that would be excellent mentors for the Assistant Quantity Surveyor joining the regional office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assisting in daily commercial management functions during both 2nd stage procurement/PCSA and on-site delivery.
- Assisting with measurement & valuations.
- Preparation of applications for payment.
- Ensuring compliance with all contractual requirements.
- Reconciling accounts and managing small-to-medium subcontract packages.
- Assisting in the placement of subcontract orders.
- Helping identify potential commercial risks, tracking change management.
- Supporting the production of monthly cost value reconciliation (CVR) reports.
Desirable Experience:
- Minimum 2 years+ experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
- Basic knowledge of JCT or NEC contracts would be advantageous.
- Emerging negotiation skills and a proactive attitude toward learning procurement processes.
- Previous Roles: Trainee Quantity Surveyor OR Assistant Quantity Surveyor OR Graduate Quantity Surveyor OR Junior Surveyor.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (completed or part-way through), or comparable qualification HND/HNC etc.
