Company & Project: Apple Technical Recruitment are working alongside a well thought of Main Contractor operating across London in the Residential, Commercial, Science and Leisure sectors, who are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to complement their Commercial Management team working on a project currently in pre-construction phases and then moving to on-site commercial management of the project.
A Tier 1 Main Contractor renowned for delivering complex, high-specification projects across multiple sectors including Residential, Commercial, Science and Leisure are seeking a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial ownership of a flagship project. This is a rare "cradle-to-grave" opportunity: you will lead the pre-construction phase (PCSA), finalising procurement and commercial strategy, before transitioning to site to drive the project through to a successful final account. The opportunity has a clear pathway for progression with full support with further professional development and training.
Responsibilities
- Full Lifecycle Commercial Management: Lead all daily commercial functions from pre-construction and procurement through to practical completion and final account.
- Measurement & Valuations: Conduct accurate on-site measurements and prepare detailed valuations to ensure work completed aligns with budgetary projections.
- Financial Applications: Manage the timely preparation and submission of applications for payment, ensuring optimised cash flow for the project.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliation of accounts, identifying variances and maintaining strict cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Sub-contractor Management: Oversee the end-to-end sub-contract process, including issuing enquiries, evaluating tenders, and formalising orders.
- Contract Administration: Administer works under both JCT and NEC suites of contracts; leveraging deep knowledge of these forms to mitigate risk and manage obligations effectively.
Desirable Experience
- Minimum 10 years+ experience (post graduation) as a QS.
- Good knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts would be advantageous.
- Good negotiation skills and previous experience procuring subcontractors would be advantageous.
- Previous Roles: Assistant Quantity Surveyor OR Project QS OR Quantity Surveyor OR Commercial Manager OR Assistant Commercial Manager OR Project Surveyor.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management/NVQ Level 6 or above, or comparable qualification.
