A successful regional main contractor operating in the Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Leisure & Residential sectors is seeking to recruit an experienced and effective Assistant Bid Manager to join their Pre-Construction team based in Hertfordshire. This position will include Bid Writing and the opportunity to get involved in aspects of Bid Coordination and Management.

Our client has a strong order book already secured for 2026/2027, and they are continuing to target new business and add further management resource to their pre-construction team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Bid Manager in leading PQQ, tender, and proposal submissions from inception to completion.
  • Write, edit, and review persuasive, high-quality responses for tender documentation.
  • Assist business development with scheme research, pipeline tracking, and bid strategy preparation.
  • Facilitate bid workshops to establish cohesive win themes and align submission strategies across the team.
  • Coordinate internal milestones and manage review schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Consult with internal technical teams and external consultants to capture technical inputs, bespoke CVs, and project case studies.
  • Conduct site visits to better inform technical delivery and bidding strategy.
  • Prepare presentation materials and help coach project teams for mid-tender interviews and post-tender presentations.
  • Ensure all submission documents comply with mandatory requirements, client guidelines, and deadlines.
  • Maintain and expand the bid content library, including model answers, project profiles, and post-bid feedback.

Desirable Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a bid role (Bid Coordinator, Bid Writer, or Assistant Bid Manager) for a Main Contractor.
  • Previous experience in the Construction Industry (or related field) would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Previous roles: Assistant Bid Manager OR Senior Bid Writer OR Bid Writer OR Senior Bid Coordinator.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Project packages.
  • BSc, NVQ, HNC or comparable qualification is desirable but not essential.
