A permanent position for a Quantity Surveyor based in Hertfordshire (office and site-based across the local area) with a salary of £60k-£65k basic plus a competitive package including company car or car allowance, healthcare, bonus, and additional benefits.
An established, highly profitable Tier 1 Main Contractor is expanding its commercial team following significant project wins across Hertfordshire. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial management of a c£20m new-build project within the Healthcare, Education, or Life Sciences sector. This role offers a clear pathway for career progression, backed by comprehensive support for further professional development and chartership.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee all day-to-day commercial functions through 2nd stage procurement and on-site delivery.
- Procurement & Subcontractor Management: Placing subcontract orders, managing accounts, and overseeing 2nd stage procurement.
- Commercial Control: Carrying out accurate measurements, valuations, applications for payment, and account reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Assisting in the production and management of detailed Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.
- Contractual Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to all project and contractual requirements throughout the build lifecycle.
Desirable Experience:
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience as a Quantity Surveyor within main contracting.
- Strong working knowledge of JCT Design & Build (D&B) contracts.
- Proven negotiation skills and a strong background in subcontractor procurement.
Relevant Previous Roles: Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Project Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Assistant Commercial Manager, or Project Surveyor.
Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or NVQ Level 6 equivalent / higher).
