Vacancy Summary Job Title: Senior Design Manager Job Type: Permanent Job Ref: #1458 Location: Buckinghamshire (Pre-construction based in London office for the initial 12 months) Start Date: ASAP Salary: c.£75,000 - £90,000 basic (DOE) + comprehensive package (company car or car allowance, private healthcare, performance bonus, pension) Company & Project An award-winning Main Contractor with a strong pipeline of regional work is seeking a Senior Design Manager to join a major project team for a c£200m+ healthcare development in Buckinghamshire. The overall programme spans c.4 years in duration. The project features a c.12-month pre-construction phase requiring regular travel to a London office before the project transitions to site. Working within a dedicated major project team, the successful candidate will manage the design process from early feasibility and planning through to on-site coordination and final delivery. This is a rare opportunity to join an influential project from its inception. Duties & Responsibilities The Senior Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, focusing heavily on early feasibility, planning, and procurement stages, while monitoring on-site design coordination and managing external consultant performance. Act as the primary liaison between the design team, client, and site delivery team. Ensure full technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant building standards, regulations, and healthcare design requirements. Drive an efficient design process aligned strictly with project timescales and commercial targets. Manage, monitor, and evaluate external consultant performance throughout pre-construction and delivery. Desirable Experience & Qualifications Experience: Minimum 10 years' experience in a Design Management role working for a Tier 1 or major Main Contractor. Healthcare sector experience would be highly advantageous. Previous Roles: Technical Manager | Senior Design Manager | Design Manager | Design & Build Manager Qualifications: Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
