Company & Project: Apple Technical Recruitment are working exclusively with a privately owned Main Contractor who turnover close to £50 million and operate across the Commercial, Mixed-Use, Residential and Education sectors across Norfolk. They are currently growing their Design team with a new Design Manager to work on projects up to c.£20m in single value. The business has demonstrated sustained and strategic growth over the past 10 years, positioning itself as an employer of choice with a rewarding culture and a strong track record of investing in employees' personal and professional development. The large majority of their projects are secured from local frameworks and are largely Design and Build contracts.

Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will take responsibility for technical compliance and design management at procurement stages, and monitor on-site design coordination across one or two projects. A process-driven individual with practical construction knowledge and a keen eye for detail is essential for this role.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience as a Design Manager from early planning stages through to project completion.
  • Ability to work on projects as a Lead Design Manager.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' experience working for a Main Contractor.
  • It would be advantageous for the candidate to have knowledge of one or more of the following: Construction methodology, Design & Build contracts, Planning legislation, Building Regulations, and NHBC warranty requirements.

Previous Roles: Technical Manager OR Assistant Design Manager OR Design Manager OR Design Co-ordinator OR Assistant Design & Build Manager.

Qualifications & Skills: HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
