Vacancy Summary Job Title: Design Manager (Infrastructure) Job Type: Permanent Job Ref: 1449 Location: Bedfordshire ( Travel to London office) Start Date: ASAP Salary: c£60,000-£75,000 basic (DOE), plus a comprehensive package including a car allowance, private healthcare, performance bonus, pension. Company Project: A market-leading Tier 1 Main Contractor with a secure, long-term pipeline of work across Bedfordshire are seeking a talented Design Manager to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and support design delivery across an exciting major project, specialising in the design management of Infrastructure and Civils packages, spanning highways/roads, drainage systems, deep foundations and piling, earthworks, and major utility. The Infrastructure Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design process from early feasibility and planning stages through to on-site coordination and delivery, taking responsibility for a major infrastructure or civils packages. Duties Responsibilities: While focusing primarily on early feasibility and procurement stages, the Infrastructure Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, monitoring on-site design coordination and managing the performance of external civil, structural, and infrastructure consultants. Acting as a liaison between the design team, client, local highways authorities, statutory undertakers, and on-site delivery team. Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards, section agreements (e.g., S278, S38, S104), and environmental regulations. Driving efficient design process aligned with project timelines, construct-ability, and commercial targets. Desirable Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor or Consultant with a focus on civil engineering or infrastructure packages. Sector/Package experience to include: Highways/Roads, Drainage, Piling Ground Engineering, Earthworks, or Major Utilities. Previous Roles May Include: Infrastructure Technical Manager | Assistant Design Manager | Infrastructure Design Manager | Civils Design Coordinator | Design Build Manager Qualifications Skills: HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management OR comparable qualification.
