Apple Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our public sector client for a Support Services Assistant (Band 2) across Strabane, Limavady and Derry/Londonderry.
This is an excellent opportunity for reliable and hardworking individuals to join a busy support services team, carrying out a range of catering and domestic duties to ensure high standards of cleanliness, food service, hygiene and safety are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide beverages and assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals and light snacks. Portion and serve meals and snacks to patients, staff and customers. Check and record food, fridge and chiller temperatures. Prepare meal trolleys and tables and deliver and collect trolleys as required. Carry out manual and mechanical dishwashing and clean catering areas, equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils. Assist with stock control and menu collation. Collect cash for food and beverages when required. Carry out general domestic cleaning duties, including cleaning sanitary areas, floors, furniture, fittings, windows and other surfaces. Operate industrial cleaning equipment where required. Replenish supplies including hand towels, soap and toilet rolls. Safely collect and dispose of environmental waste. Clean spills, including bodily fluids, in accordance with infection prevention and control procedures. Carry out catering and laundry duties as required. Complete relevant cleanliness and safety checks. Work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a high standard of service to patients, clients, staff and visitors. Comply with all relevant health and safety, infection control and organisational policies and procedures.
Essential Criteria Applicants must have:
- An understanding of the importance of health and safety and food hygiene standards. The ability to relate to and understand the needs of others. The ability to take instruction and work on their own initiative. The ability to work effectively as part of a team. Flexibility to work a rota which may include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. A willingness to undertake training as directed by management.
Desirable criteria may include:
- Experience working in a domestic or catering role within a work environment. At least 3 months' experience working in a domestic or catering role. A Basic Food Hygiene qualification, NVQ Level 1 or equivalent. Previous cash-handling experience.
