Location: Antrim

Salary: £14.13 per hour plus 18.5% Waste Allowance (£16.74 per hour including allowance)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Working Pattern: 4 days out of a rolling 7-day rota, including alternate weekends

Shift Pattern: 06:00am – 3:45pm shifts

Duration: Temporary contract – up to 4 months

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role: On behalf of our client, Apple Recruitment Services are delighted to be recruiting a Waste Resource Management Driver Category C to support the delivery of waste collection, environmental cleansing, and recycling services throughout the Borough. The successful candidate will operate waste collection vehicles and supervise crew members while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Category C waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Ensure daily routes, tasks, and workloads are completed to Council standards
  • Supervise crew members and provide instruction where required
  • Carry out vehicle safety inspections and report faults or defects
  • Ensure on-board safety devices and communication systems are operational
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete associated records/documentation
  • Carry out waste collection, recycling, street cleansing, and environmental cleansing duties
  • Support Household Recycling Centre operations where required
  • Assist with bulky waste collections and removal of illegally dumped materials
  • Carry out gritting and snow clearance duties during adverse weather conditions
  • Deliver excellent customer service and liaise with members of the public
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures and traffic management requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Valid Category CE driving licence
  • Hold a valid CPC Licence / Driver Qualification Card
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating with a Category C licence
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Computer literacy sufficient to use TMS/GPS systems
  • Knowledge of health & safety procedures including manual handling and reversing assistance
  • Knowledge of waste collection, disposal, and recycling procedures
  • Willingness to undertake a Driver Assessment

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working within a waste management environment
  • Experience driving refuse collection vehicles
  • Experience operating HGV mechanical sweepers
  • Traffic management knowledge and experience
