About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Marketing Communications & PR Officer on behalf of a public sector organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy communications team, supporting the delivery of marketing, communications and public relations activities that promote services, initiatives and corporate objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and delivering marketing campaigns, managing media relations, creating engaging content and supporting communications across a wide range of service areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver marketing, media and communications plans aligned to service objectives and budgets.
- Create and manage integrated marketing campaigns across online and offline channels.
- Produce engaging content including copywriting, photography briefs, video content and promotional materials.
- Maintain and update website content and support digital communications activity.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on campaign performance using relevant metrics.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with media contacts and stakeholders.
- Draft press releases, statements, speeches and communication materials.
- Manage media enquiries and provide communications support to officers and elected members.
- Monitor local and regional media coverage and prepare evaluation reports.
- Support the organisation of civic, mayoral and promotional events.
- Assist with the development of corporate publications, promotional materials and communication policies.
Essential Criteria
- A degree in a relevant discipline such as Marketing, Communications, Business Studies or an equivalent Level 6 qualification. OR At least 3 years' relevant marketing and communications experience in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in marketing and communications activities, including campaign development and implementation.
- At least 1 year's experience in public relations.
- Experience producing publications and communication materials.
- Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to strict deadlines.
- A full current driving licence, or access to suitable transport to fulfil the duties of the role.
