About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an Estate Services Officer on behalf of a large public sector organisation based in the Antrim area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estates, facilities, building services, or construction professional to play a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, modern, and efficient property assets across a diverse estate portfolio. The successful candidate will assist in the management of maintenance programmes, contractors, building services, compliance activities, and operational staff while helping to ensure high standards of service delivery across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of estates and facilities services across a range of council properties
- Assist in the management of building maintenance, facilities management, cleaning, security, and caretaking functions
- Oversee and monitor external contractors and service providers
- Support planned preventative maintenance programmes and statutory compliance activities
- Assist with the delivery of refurbishment, maintenance and minor works projects from planning through to completion
- Monitor building-related services including mechanical, electrical, heating, lighting and water systems
- Contribute to asset management planning and service improvement initiatives
- Support health and safety compliance, including fire risk assessments, asbestos management and legionella control measures
- Produce reports, performance information and management data as required
- Supervise operational teams and contractors to ensure effective service delivery
- Participate in emergency call-out and standby arrangements when required
Essential Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A Degree (Level 6 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Building Services, Construction, Building Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar OR A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience within an estates, facilities, construction or property-related environment
In addition, candidates must have:
- At least 1 year's experience in building construction, facilities management or maintenance environments, including experience in at least two of the following:
- Building construction and current building techniques
- Planned preventative maintenance systems
- Health and safety legislation relating to facilities management
- Facilities contract management
- At least 1 year's experience managing or supervising staff and contractors
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications
- A full current driving licence (or access to suitable transport enabling the duties of the role to be carried out)
Desirable Criteria
- Additional qualifications in Facilities Management or a related discipline
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as IWFM, CIBSE or CIOB
- Additional facilities management experience
