Crematorium Technician
Location: Antrim and Newtownabbey
Salary: £17.45
Hours: 37 hours per week
Duration: Temporary, Full-Time
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9.00am –5:00pm

Key Responsibilities
- Operate cremators and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor, record and control cremation processes, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and environmental standards.
- Carry out routine maintenance, fault finding and basic repairs to crematory equipment.
- Maintain accurate records relating to cremations, permits and cremated remains.
- Ensure correct identification, handling, storage and disposal of cremated remains.
- Provide compassionate bereavement support to families, funeral directors, officiants and members of the public.
- Operate ceremony room technology, including webcasting, audio and visual tribute systems.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, security and presentation throughout the crematorium and grounds.
- Assist with memorial garden maintenance and memorial installations.
- Support stock control of crematorium consumables and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, manual handling and risk assessment procedures.
- Act as a key holder and provide cover for office and operational duties as required.
- Participate in training, staff development, public events and commemorative services.
- Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining dignity, respect and professionalism at all times.

Qualifications
- CTTS accredited (Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management) or willing to obtain accreditation within an agreed timeframe.
- First Aid qualified or willing to undertake training.
- Competent literacy and numeracy skills.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year's experience in a bereavement-related environment (e.g. crematorium, cemetery, funeral services or bereavement support).
- Experience monitoring work processes, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience delivering high standards of customer service.
- Understanding of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and professionalism when dealing with bereaved families and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Windows applications.
- Knowledge of cremation legislation and crematorium operations.
- Basic knowledge of cremator operation and maintenance.
Other Requirements
- Full current driving licence (or alternative means of meeting transport requirements).
- Physically fit to undertake manual handling duties.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours when required.
