Location: Newtownabbey

Pay Rate: £15.31 per hour

Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Duration: Temporary contract for 3 months initially, with the possibility of extension subject to review

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Business Development Administrative Officer on behalf of a large public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to join a busy Economic Development team, providing high-quality administrative and business support across a range of economic development, employability, skills, regeneration and business support programmes. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of projects and initiatives that contribute to local economic growth, business engagement and employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Economic Development and Planning Department.
  • Validate and verify project information submitted by delivery partners.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, performance dashboards and business directories.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, seminars and stakeholder engagement events.
  • Prepare, format and issue correspondence, reports, presentations and project documentation.
  • Support the administration of grant funding programmes and associated payments.
  • Record and distribute meeting agendas, minutes and action logs.
  • Manage departmental inboxes, telephone enquiries and customer queries.
  • Support the delivery of employability and skills programmes, including Labour Market Partnership initiatives.
  • Assist with the organisation and administration of business events, job fairs, consultations and promotional activities.
  • Maintain filing systems and ensure compliance with GDPR and organisational procedures.
  • Process purchase orders, invoices and financial documentation in accordance with audit requirements.

Essential Criteria

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade A-C, including English Language and Mathematics. OR A minimum of 4 years' administrative experience in lieu of the qualification requirement.
  • At least 2 years' administrative experience, including:
    • Dealing with members of the public and responding to enquiries from a variety of stakeholders.
    • Data input, record management and information retrieval.
    • Excellent organisational and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work effectively within a small specialist team.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • High levels of discretion and confidentiality.
    • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • A full current driving licence or access to suitable transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.
