About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Officer (Band 5) to join a busy Housing team based in Coleraine. Reporting to the Area Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maintenance repairs to properties are delivered to the highest standards of quality, cost-effectiveness, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out inspections of properties to authorise maintenance work in line with established schedules
- Inspecting completed maintenance works to ensure required quality standards have been achieved before authorising payment
- Monitoring contractor performance and identifying any service delivery issues requiring corrective action
- Advising tenants on maintenance policies, responsibilities, and expected timescales for repairs
- Liaising with contractors, tenants, and internal departments to ensure maintenance issues are resolved efficiently
- Supporting the re-letting process by ensuring vacated properties receive the necessary maintenance work promptly
- Maintaining accurate records and reports relating to inspections and maintenance activities
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and contractual requirements
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- A Degree in Building Studies (or equivalent) and at least 1 year's relevant experience; OR
- A BTEC Higher Diploma in Building Studies (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' relevant experience; OR
- A minimum of 4 years' relevant experience.
Relevant experience will be considered as working on the design, improvement, or maintenance of domestic properties.
In addition, applicants should possess:
- Intermediate IT skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Experience liaising with contractors, tenants, and stakeholders
