An established public sector organisation is seeking a Paralegal to provide high-quality administrative and paralegal support to senior governance and adjudication functions. The postholder will support adjudication processes, information governance, and legal research activity. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced paralegal or governance professional with strong knowledge of data protection, legal administration, and public sector procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adjudication Support: Prepare, manage, and maintain case files and documentation for adjudication processes. Provide administrative support to the Commissioner and Adjudication Team, including scheduling and record-keeping. Manage technical and administrative aspects of adjudication reviews and hearings (virtual and in-person).
  • Information Governance & Data Protection: Draft and coordinate responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI), and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) requests. Log, track, and monitor information requests to ensure statutory deadlines are met.
  • Legal & Governance Support: Draft correspondence and responses relating to legal matters for consideration by senior managers. Maintain legal information databases and records management systems. Undertake legal research and prepare reports on governance and legal issues. Support wider legal and governance functions across the organisation as required.
  • General Duties: Work in line with organisational values including fairness, impartiality, openness, respect, and integrity. Adhere to equality, dignity at work, health & safety, and information governance policies. Contribute to cross-functional projects and service development when required. Engage proactively in personal development and performance review processes.

Essential Criteria: Applicants must, by the closing date, demonstrate a minimum of two years’ relevant experience in the following areas: Providing legal advice or support to senior managers and staff. Working in a legal or governance administrative role. Handling confidential information and adhering to data protection and information governance requirements. Using IT systems and remote communication tools (e.g. MS Teams, Webex). Managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Desirable Criteria: Demonstrable knowledge of GDPR, FOI, EIR, or administrative justice procedures. At least two years’ experience supporting adjudication or complaints casework.
