About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant (Band 7) on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced qualified accountant to join a busy Finance team, supporting senior managers and budget holders through the provision of high-quality financial management, business case development, financial analysis and reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial planning, budget management, service development proposals and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial support and advice to senior managers and budget holders.
  • Develop business cases and service development proposals through detailed financial analysis and costing information.
  • Investigate financial variances and contribute to the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support financial planning, monitoring returns and monthly financial reporting.
  • Assist with capital reporting and monitoring of asset acquisition programmes.
  • Support annual budget setting, budget monitoring and financial control processes.
  • Produce and analyse management accounting information and reports.
  • Deliver financial information and guidance to budget holders to support effective decision-making.
  • Participate in internal and external working groups and contribute specialist financial expertise.
  • Liaise with auditors and support implementation of agreed recommendations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Finance function.

Essential Criteria

  • CCAB Qualified Accountant status.
  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant financial management experience.
  • At least 1 year's experience of budgetary control and the preparation of management accounting information and reports.
  • At least 1 year's experience in business case production.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve successful financial management outcomes.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to analyse and present complex financial information.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of Health and Social Care (HSC) financial systems.
