About the Opportunity

Apple Recruitment Services is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a valued client for a Bookkeeper to join their established Finance Team on an initial 3-month fixed-term contract; however, there is the potential this will become permanent. The Role

Working as part of a small Finance Team, the Bookkeeper will support the Senior Management Team through the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and records. The role will involve maintaining purchase and sales ledger activities, supporting credit control processes, carrying out reconciliations, and assisting with general finance administration to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the accurate maintenance of Purchase and Sales Ledgers
  • Process purchase invoices and match invoices to purchase orders
  • Assist with sales ledger reconciliations
  • Undertake multi-currency bank reconciliations and ensure correct allocation to customer and supplier accounts
  • Support an efficient and effective credit control function
  • Handle customer payment queries via telephone and email
  • Assist with the maintenance and cleansing of supplier and customer records
  • Support the Finance Team with administrative and reporting duties
  • Ensure all financial records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance function
  • Provide support to Senior Management and other departments as required
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a Finance, Accounts, Bookkeeping, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Credit Control, or equivalent finance environment
  • Previous experience processing financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and supporting finance operations
  • Strong numerical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience using Management Information Systems, ERP systems, or accounting software
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Experience working to deadlines in a busy environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at pass level

Desirable Criteria

  • Accounting Technician qualification, accounting qualification, or currently studying towards one
  • Experience using Sage, particularly Sage Intacct
  • Experience using Opera Accounts or similar accounting systems
  • Experience supporting multi-currency bank reconciliations
  • Previous experience supporting credit control functions
  • Experience working within a commercial or manufacturing environment
