Location: Antrim Area Hospital / Holywell Hospital

Salary: £24,465 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours)

Working Hours: 15 hours per week

Duration: Temporary contract – 6 months in the first instance

About the Role: On behalf of our client, Apple Recruitment Services are delighted to be recruiting a Band 2 Pharmacy Store Assistant to support the delivery of an efficient and high-quality pharmacy stores and distribution service within a busy healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process deliveries from suppliers, ensuring accurate receipt and storage of stock
  • Maintain delivery paperwork and associated computer records
  • Assist with supplier returns, credits, stock replacements, and uplifts
  • Participate in the assembly and distribution of pharmaceutical stock for wards and departments
  • Support the dispensing and distribution of Bulk IV fluids and Procedure Packs
  • Generate, process, pick, and issue bulk stock orders
  • Transport pharmacy items across Trust sites using the designated Pharmacy Van following successful completion of driving assessments
  • Maintain accurate stock control and assist with stock checks and expiry date monitoring
  • Ensure pharmacy stores are maintained in a clean, safe, and organised condition
  • Follow safe systems of work and comply with COSHH, Medicines Act requirements, and Trust procedures
  • Maintain manual and electronic records relevant to the service
  • Participate in audits and assist with the development and updating of pharmacy procedures and policies
  • Ensure appropriate disposal of waste and safe handling of specialist stock items
  • Support service delivery targets and quality standards at all times

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a warehouse/stores assistant OR 5 GCSEs (Grades A–G) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or above
  • Hold a current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to transport
  • Ability to undertake manual handling duties including lifting and moving stock items
  • Basic IT knowledge and experience using systems such as Microsoft Word and email
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Willingness to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience within a healthcare, pharmacy, or hospital stores environment
  • Knowledge of stock control systems and pharmacy distribution procedures

  • 27 days annual leave plus 10 public/statutory holidays (pro rata)
