Location: Antrim

Salary: £12.21/hr

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon–Fri 8:45am–5:00pm (possible cover Sat/Sun as required)

Duration: Temporary, 6 months initially with review to extend

On behalf of our client, we are delighted to be recruiting for a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy Department at Antrim Hospital. This temporary role provides an excellent opportunity to support the safe and efficient supply of medicines, dressings, and medical items to hospital and community patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, check, and shelve pharmacy items in line with departmental SOPs.
  • Assemble and issue daily ward orders, bulk issues, and procedure packs via EPIC pharmacy system.
  • Support dispensing of vaccines, controlled drugs, and medical supplies to wards and community users.
  • Assist with pre-packing, broken pack dispensing, and stock rotation/expiry management.
  • Perform vehicle deliveries of pharmacy supplies as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including returns processing and stock records.
  • Assist in aseptic unit preparation and cleaning.
  • Participate in training and knowledge sharing with staff, students, and trainees.
  • Comply with Medicines Act, COSHH, and Trust health & safety policies.

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grades A–G) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics Grade C or above, OR NVQ Level 2/BTEC Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
  • Effective communication, organisational, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of HPSS trends and pharmacy support work.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
