You will work closely with the cross-functional silicon validation team in defining the scope and methodology for signal and power integrity simulation and correlation measurement at the PCB level based on margins provided by the silicon/package design team. You also need to provide context to the simulation and lab measurement results and how they relate to the performance of the validation hardware. On every project, based on your simulation results, you are expected to provide guidance on how to resolve signal and power integrity issues. You also need to guide the PCB designers on best practices in parts placement, layer assignment and routing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven knowledge of power supply architectures covering voltage regulator technologies, power distribution network (PDN) modeling, PCB design practices and trade-offs for PDN design and optimization
- Good understanding of multi-phase Buck/Boost converters and LDO design principles, operating modes, and PCB design considerations
- Knowledge of signal integrity considerations for PCB design
- Strong fundamentals in 3D/2D EM simulation tools and transmission line theory
- Skills with associated tools for 2.5D (PowerSI, SIWave), 3D Full wave (HFSS, nWave), quasi-static tools (Q3D)
- Proven understanding of HSPICE, Spectre, AMS, and Simplis models for system-level transient droop analysis
- Expertise in working with lab equipment, such as: VNA, TDR, real-time scope and spectrum analyzer in correlation of simulation results
- Understanding of Die-package-board power delivery network co-design constraints and tradeoffs
- PCB and Package layout skill using Cadence Allegro tools is a plus
- Knowledge of CPM (Chip-Power-Model) usage for system transient analysis is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- BSc/MSc/BEng/MEng/PhD in related fields
- Experience with Perl, Python or other scripting languages is desired. MATLAB experience is a plus
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, ability to work independently and a desire to mentor colleagues
