Apple's ISP algorithm team is looking for an extraordinary and enthusiastic engineer to drive groundbreaking technologies for Apple products! As part of the team you will work on core camera/ISP technologies, with a specialization on auto focus and its related algorithms, based on Apple crafted image signal processing pipeline and HW components. Our close-knit team cultivates an environment of product innovation, rapid product iteration and collaboration at both team and multi-functional levels with a liberating amount of autonomy.
In this role, you will be responsible for prototyping, implementing and productizing auto focus algorithms and enhancements that can adapt to a variety of Apple products like iPhone and iPad. You are also expected to collaborate with multi-functional teams within the camera organization to deliver thoroughly thought-through and extremely optimized camera solutions for Apple products. In addition, you'll partner with various camera technology teams to streamline algorithm deployment, such as accelerating algorithms in silicon with SOC architecture team, improving new camera components with the hardware team, optimizing algorithm and flow with the firmware team, or prototyping your work with camera simulation and the machine learning team.
The perfect candidate is hard-working, adept at problem-solving, and quick to grasp new concepts. You are comfortable working in a dynamic multi-functional environment, quick to establish relationships and collaborate with many dedicated engineers to build high-quality features in Apple products.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
- General knowledge of camera and image signal processor (ISP).
- Proficient at coding in a combination of C++ AND (Python OR MATLAB).
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of camera 3A & ISP algorithm development and tuning, including 3A (AE/AWB/AF).
- Deep understanding in key auto autofocus concepts and techniques such as contrast-based and phase-detection autofocus, and their implementation.
- Good knowledge of optics (PSFs, depth-of-field, etc) and image quality metrics (MTF, acutance).
- Strong embedded coding skills (C/C++) and understanding of object oriented programming (OOP).
- Industry experience and track record in successfully designing, implementing and managing the prompt delivery of a product.
