Pay: £50,000.00-£65,000.00 per year

Location: Huddersfield (Remote Considered)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm (with flexibility)

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll take ownership of key development projects, working hands-on across both customer-facing eCommerce platforms and bespoke internal systems. You’ll be responsible for delivering clean, scalable code using a modern L.I.T.T.R. stack (Laravel, Inertia, Tailwind, TypeScript, React), deployed serverlessly via AWS and Laravel Vapor.

You’ll act as a mentor to junior developers, helping to raise technical standards, review code, and ensure high-quality delivery across all projects. This is a chance to shape the technical direction of a business that is doubling in size over the next five years.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise full-stack applications using Laravel, React, and TypeScript.
• Lead code reviews, ensure testing best practices (manual & automated) are followed.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver effective, efficient systems.
• Support and mentor junior developers.
• Contribute to infrastructure design and performance tuning on AWS.
• Deliver robust, scalable solutions aligned with commercial and user needs.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• 5+ years’ commercial experience with Laravel.
• 5+ years’ experience with React.
• 3+ years’ experience with TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of Git, CI/CD, and AWS environments.
• Experience mentoring and guiding development teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable:

• Previous eCommerce platform experience (Magento, Shopify, etc.).
• Familiarity with Storybook, reusable component libraries, and WCAG 2.2 accessibility.
• Experience integrating payment gateways, PIMs, and WMS.
• Exposure to testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or does.qa.
• Load testing tools like Locust or JMeter.
