The Opportunity
This isn't a role where you'll inherit a roadmap and simply prioritise user stories. You’ll be responsible for understanding where the market is heading, working closely with customers to identify future requirements and helping define the strategy behind a portfolio of software products and services. Working alongside Technical Architects, Product Owners, Delivery Managers and engineering teams, you'll translate high-level ideas into clear product direction, ensuring development effort is aligned with both customer needs and commercial objectives. You’ll also play a key role in how the products are positioned in the market – developing value propositions, analysing competitors, supporting marketing activity and helping shape the future evolution of the portfolio. It’s a varied role that combines strategic product management with enough technical depth to engage confidently with software engineers, architects and customers alike.
What You'll Be Doing
- Defining and evolving product strategy across a growing software portfolio.
- Working directly with customers to understand business challenges and future requirements.
- Owning product roadmaps and helping shape long‑term investment priorities.
- Translating high‑level customer and business requirements into deliverable work for engineering teams.
- Working closely with Product Owners, Technical Architects and Delivery Managers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Supporting product releases and ensuring successful delivery of new capabilities.
- Developing compelling value propositions across software, professional services and managed services.
- Working alongside Marketing to support product launches, messaging and promotional activity.
- Monitoring competitor products and emerging technologies to help inform future product direction.
- Acting as an advocate for the product portfolio, both internally and externally.
About You
You’ll already have experience managing technical software products and enjoy balancing commercial thinking with technical delivery. You could currently be working as a:
- Technical Product Manager
- Product Manager
- Senior Product Manager
- Software Product Manager
- Product Owner looking to step into a more strategic product management role
You’ll likely bring experience in:
- Software product management within a technical environment.
- Product strategy and roadmap ownership.
- Customer discovery and requirements gathering.
- Agile software development.
- Working closely with software engineering teams.
- Managing relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Presenting product direction and influencing decision-makers.
Experience within cyber security, secure software, defence, government or other highly regulated industries would be beneficial, but isn't essential. What’s most important is your ability to understand complex technology, communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and make sound product decisions that balance customer value with commercial outcomes. Due to the nature of the work, you’ll need to be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to join a business where Product Management has genuine influence. You’ll be working on software that solves complex interoperability challenges, collaborating with highly experienced technical teams and engaging directly with customers to shape products that deliver real operational value. You’ll have the freedom to influence strategy, the autonomy to make decisions and the opportunity to play a key role in the future direction of an expanding software portfolio.
Package
- £75,000 - £85,000 salary
- Hybrid working from Nottingham
- Ongoing professional development and career progression
- Collaborative, highly technical environment
