Principal Consultant Finance Recruitment (Perm & Contract)

Salary: £50K basic (Negotiable) + Benefits + Uncapped commission

Location: Moorgate, London

Applaud Recruitment (R2R) is working with a high-growth talent solutions firm that operates across both the UK and USA, with an expanding team of over 65 consultants globally. This business is driven by innovation, data, and people delivering high-impact recruitment and advisory services across key functional areas. With ambitious plans to scale further, they are now looking for an experienced Principal Consultant to join and help lead their thriving Finance Recruitment division.

This is a senior, high-visibility position where you'll work directly alongside the Finance Recruitment Director as the No.2 in the team. You will lead from the front across a full 360 remit while supporting and mentoring a team of four experienced consultants. The team operates across permanent and contract finance recruitment, covering roles from Newly Qualified to CFO level across a range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • 360 Recruitment: Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from business development and client management to candidate delivery and deal closing across mid-to-senior finance roles.
  • Team Leadership: Support, mentor, and provide strategic input to a team of 4 consultants across both perm and contract markets.
  • Client Development: Build and nurture long-term relationships with senior finance stakeholders, CFOs, Finance Directors, and other key decision-makers.
  • Lead from the Front: Set the tone for high performance, collaboration, and market excellence through hands‐on delivery and client engagement.
  • Operational Contribution: Work closely with the Director to shape team strategy, hiring plans, performance tracking, and internal growth.
  • Strategic Growth: Be a key part of the firm's broader scaling strategy, contributing to business development across the UK and U.S.
  • Career Progression: Fast‐track opportunity to Senior Manager, with clear visibility on advancement based on contribution and impact.

About You

  • Proven experience in finance recruitment (permanent, contract, or both), with a strong track record across mid to senior‐level roles.
  • 360 recruiter with a demonstrable ability to win and grow accounts while delivering top‐tier candidate experiences.
  • Natural leadership qualities capable of inspiring, supporting, and driving performance across a team.
  • Ambitious, commercially focused, and motivated by building something with long‐term impact.
  • Comfortable in a fast‐paced, entrepreneurial environment with modern systems, data‐driven processes, and cross‐border collaboration.
