APPIT Software Solutions is hiring a Data Governance Specialist in London, UK. Define and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards across the enterprise data ecosystem at APPIT Software.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with GDPR and UK data regulations.
- Manage data cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tracking using tools like Collibra or Alation.
- Define and enforce data classification, sensitivity labeling, and access control policies across data platforms.
- Lead data quality initiatives including profiling, cleansing rules, and data quality scorecards.
- Collaborate with engineering, legal, and compliance teams to ensure data privacy and regulatory adherence.
- Establish data stewardship programs and train business data owners on governance best practices.
Requirements:
- 5-8 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related data discipline.
- Deep understanding of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and data privacy regulations.
- Hands-on experience with data governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Apache Atlas, or Informatica).
- Knowledge of data quality frameworks, master data management, and reference data standards.
- Strong understanding of data architecture concepts including data warehousing, data lakes, and cloud platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for driving governance adoption.
Nice to Have:
- DAMA CDMP certification or equivalent data governance credential.
- Experience with PII detection and automated data classification tools.
- Familiarity with data mesh principles and federated governance models.
