About AppFactor

AppFactor is the first fully native, end-to-end agentic orchestration platform built to automate software maintenance and modernisation at scale. We free enterprise engineering teams from the maintenance treadmill by cutting technical debt, clearing backlogs, and deploying optimised, cloud-native software autonomously. Unlike code generation solutions stuck in a code-level vacuum, AppFactor's platform is self-informed by where software actually runs. Full-stack context, parallel agent execution, built-in verification, and drift-free deployments mean the system doesn't just write code: It understands, fixes, and ships it end-to-end.

About the Role

You’ll be our first Solutions Engineering hire. A rare chance to own the function from the ground up. Working directly alongside our CEO, CTO and Account Executives, you'll be the technical authority that bridges our agentic orchestration platform with the enterprise customers. You'll lead technical discovery, build compelling proof of value cases, and become the trusted expert customers turn to when evaluating and adopting AppFactor. Whether they're tackling maintenance backlogs, cloud migrations, or large-scale code transformations, you'll know the platform inside out and know how to make it land. This isn't a role with a ready-made playbook: That’s where you come in. You'll bring the entrepreneurial drive and comfort with ambiguity that early-stage environments demand and the seniority to build the foundations that scale with us.

What you'll do

  • Build the SE function — You're the first. That means creating the playbooks, assets, and processes from scratch — and having the seniority and drive to do it without a template.
  • Own the technical sale — From first discovery call to signed deal, you'll lead the technical side alongside our AEs — qualifying fit, running demos, building proof of value cases, and making sure the right stakeholders become champions.
  • Make the platform land — Translate AppFactor's agentic orchestration capabilities into outcomes that resonate across the room, whether you're talking to a VP of Engineering or a CFO.
  • Evangelize the platform — Represent AppFactor externally through enablement sessions, partner conversations, and thought leadership. You'll help establish AppFactor as the definitive platform for automated software maintenance and modernisation at scale.
  • Connect the dots internally — Feed customer insight back into Product, enable the GTM team, and help Customer Success set up for a smooth handoff. You'll be the connective tissue across the business.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Must-Haves
  • Senior SE pedigree — At least 3 years in a Solutions Engineering or Technical Consulting role with a track record of owning complex technical sales cycles in enterprise accounts.
  • Strong development foundation — 7+ years of hands-on experience in technologies such as Java, .NET, or similar enterprise frameworks, with the credibility to engage senior technical stakeholders from the development domain.
  • Technical breadth — Experience evaluating complex application architectures and enterprise-grade environments, with a strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, containers, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices. Modernisation experience a significant advantage.
  • RFP ownership — Demonstrated experience leading the assembly of technical materials in response to customer RFIs and RFPs.
  • Clear, compelling communicator — Able to create technical documentation, deliver training, and present complex concepts accessibly to both technical and business audiences — in writing and in person.
  • Startup DNA — You've worked in early-stage, high-growth B2B SaaS environments, know how to build without a blueprint, and thrive when the company is still being built around you.
  • Resourceful under constraints — When the product doesn't do exactly what a customer needs, you don't hit a wall. You find the angle, shape the solution, and make it work.

Why AppFactor?

  • The problem is real. Technical debt costs enterprises billions in lost engineering velocity every year. AI coding tools are only compounding the problem. AppFactor is the first agentic orchestration platform that automates the full cycle — from identifying and fixing debt to deploying production-ready software end-to-end.
  • The timing is right. The platform is proven, customers are live, and the traction is there. You're joining at the moment where the right go-to-market motion turns a great product into a category leader.
  • The team is serious. Industry veterans who've built and scaled enterprise software companies, engineers who deeply understand the problem, and a founding team that operates with high trust and high autonomy. You'll have real influence here from day one.

Benefits & Compensation

  • (Equity package)
  • Remote-first
  • Flexible working hours
  • 28 days holiday incl. bank holidays + your birthday off
  • 10-30% travel (UK/EU) to meet customers and the team
