Hours: 35 hours per week
Shift pattern: Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00
Salary: from £26,000 per annum dependant on experience
Location: Hybrid New Milton, Hampshire UK (long term expectations 2 days in the office)
Training: Initial 2 weeks training full time in the office.
Start Date: May/June 2026
Pre‑employment Screening: This role is subject to pre‑employment screening, including RTW, DBS checks and two years of referencing. All screening must be completed prior to your start date, which may result in the start date being adjusted if required.
Remote Work: This role is a UK based role and any hybrid/remote work must also be within the UK.
Internet Speed Requirement: 5Mbps upload and 15Mbps download internet speed

ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone who is eager to grow, motivated to learn, and ready to build a strong career pathway in system design. You’ll thrive in this role if you’re naturally curious, detail‑driven, and excited by technology that makes a real impact.
ESSENTIAL (Minimum Criteria)
- Experience: a good standard of education preferably level 3 with Maths and a STEM qualification; Engineer within telecare, structured cabling, or a similar field
- Qualifications & Training: 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including Maths and English
- Skills, General & Special Knowledge: Ability to use Excel, Word and Outlook
- Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; A positive and proactive attitude towards work; Ability to work well in a team as well as independently; Willingness to complete structured training and certified courses
DESIRABLE (Nice To Have)
- Experience: 1+ years of experience with system design in a similar field; Experience designing technical solutions including floor plan layouts, system configurations, installation details and writing proposals
- Qualifications & Training: An A‑Level in Maths and another STEM subject (Physics, ICT, Computing, Electronics) at grade C or above; Or equivalent qualification such as BTEC Level 3, HNC, HND, or T‑Level in a relevant discipline
- Skills, General & Special Knowledge: Practical working knowledge of telecare or telehealth systems or similar field; Full driving licence
- Personal Attributes: Insightful and forward‑thinking in solutions to technical problems; Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure deadlines are met
THE ROLE
As a Trainee Solution Architect, you’ll play a key role in our design team, helping to shape innovative solutions for our clients across the digital telecare and Technology Enabled Care (TEC) sector. You’ll work hands‑on with Appello’s leading digital product suite - including Smart Living Solutions (SLS), Smart Connect (SC) and Smartlife (SL) - gaining exposure to real‑world system design and cutting‑edge technology. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds: time in one of our office locations collaborating with experts, and the flexibility of working from home. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who’s passionate about progressing into system design and eager to build strong technical foundations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
- System Design: Telecare and telehealth product selection; Control rack and server configuration design; Structured cabling design; Data bus cabling design; Back‑up power supply selection and calculations; Preparing system cost sheets
- Client Proposals & Quotations: Generate client quotations from the system design and cost sheet; Prepare quotation revisions and variations; Updating the quotation planner
- Site Surveys: Schedule and coordinate site technical surveys; Complete site surveys to allow system designs for retro‑fit systems
