ABOUT YOU

You're passionate about helping people develop, succeed, and reach their full potential. Whether you're facilitating engaging training sessions, coaching colleagues to improve performance, or creating learning solutions that make a real impact, you thrive on seeing others grow.

We're looking for someone with experience delivering operational training in a fast-paced environment, who can confidently build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. You'll be an excellent communicator, able to adapt your style to different audiences, gain buy-in, and support colleagues through change.

You'll be highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities, with strong facilitation and presentation skills. A keen eye for detail, a collaborative approach, and the ability to work independently are all key to success in this role.

Ideally, you'll also bring experience in developing digital learning content, working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. A CIPD Learning & Development qualification, training certification, or knowledge of adult learning principles would be a bonus, but most importantly, you'll have a genuine passion for learning and development and a drive to make a difference.

If you're adaptable, resilient, people-focused, and excited by the opportunity to shape learning experiences that improve performance and engagement, we'd love to hear from you.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Departmental Operational Lead, with a strong functional link into the Central Learning & Development Team, the Operational Training Partner is responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality learning solutions that drive operational excellence, performance improvement, and colleague development across the business.

The role requires a credible operational leader with a proven Learning & Development background, capable of translating business objectives into effective training interventions. The Operational Training Partner will own the end-to-end training strategy within their operational area, from onboarding and accreditation through to capability development, coaching, succession planning, and continuous improvement.

Acting as a trusted partner to operational leaders, the role combines strong people leadership, stakeholder management, coaching expertise, and commercial awareness to ensure training programmes deliver measurable improvements in performance, customer outcomes, compliance, and colleague engagement. The ability to adapt communication and coaching styles to different audiences is essential to maximise learning effectiveness and support diverse learning needs.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

  • Lead the delivery of operational onboarding, induction, and accreditation programmes for all new colleagues.

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve operational learning pathways to support capability, performance, and career progression.

  • Act as the operational Learning & Development subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to leaders across the department.

  • Partner with operational management teams to identify capability gaps and develop targeted training solutions that support business objectives.

  • Deliver coaching interventions for colleagues and leaders to drive performance improvement and behavioural development.

  • Manage trainees throughout their learning journey, ensuring progress is monitored, documented, and supported appropriately.

  • Coordinate training resources, schedules, and operational requirements to ensure training is delivered effectively and with minimal disruption to business performance.

  • Design and facilitate engaging classroom, virtual, and digital learning solutions tailored to operational requirements.

  • Develop and maintain high-quality training materials, guides, accreditation frameworks, and reference resources.

  • Ensure all training materials and knowledge resources are centrally maintained, version-controlled, and readily accessible.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness through performance metrics, learner feedback, quality measures, and operational outcomes, implementing improvements where required.

  • Deliver learning programmes aligned to the Central L&D Team's Learning Frameworks, Measures of Excellence, and organisational standards.

  • Support leaders with succession planning, talent development, and identification of future capability requirements.

  • Drive a culture of continuous learning, coaching, accountability, and operational excellence across the department.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, influencing decision-making and ensuring learning priorities align with business goals.

  • Use operational insight, performance data, and colleague feedback to shape future learning strategies and interventions.

  • Promote and maintain a safe, compliant, and inclusive learning environment that supports both business and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead by example, demonstrating strong operational credibility, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
