Pharmacy Technician in Leicester

Supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
• Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols.
• Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities & prepping compounds for pharmacist admixtures when needed.
• Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.
• Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
• Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
• Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Assists with copay assistance program.
• Understands and is able to explain the purpose and importance of 340B within our organization.
• Works on numerous projects surrounding 340B and growing the pharmacy in compliance with statute.

• General knowledge of pharmacy.

• Proficient with pharmaceutical technology and equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and phone systems, as well as MS Excel/Word/Outlook, Electronic Health Record systems and automated medical scheduling and billing programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required

• Associates Degree Preferred.
• 1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
• Standing and walking frequently and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical setting.
• Some travel within western North Carolina.
