This hybrid role combines field installation responsibilities with technical planning and coordination, working closely with our Technical Manager to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient renewable energy systems.

  • Install, test and commission the electrical components of domestic air conditioning systems. Carry out refrigerant work within the scope of your qualifications.
  • Diagnose faults, complete electrical certificates and commissioning records, and show homeowners how to operate their systems.
  • Work with roofers, heating engineers and other installers to complete jobs safely and on schedule.

Essential electrical and renewables criteria

  • A recognised Level 3 qualification in domestic air-source heat pump installation, such as the Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pump Systems (Non-refrigerant Circuits), the BPEC Level 3 Award in Air Source Heat Pump Systems, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Hands-on experience installing and commissioning complete domestic air-to-water heat pump systems, covering **both the heating-water side and the electrical controls**.
  • At least **two years of hands-on experience as a qualified electrician**, including domestic installation work.
  • Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation or equivalent recognised trade qualification, plus an 18th Edition qualification in BS 7671.
  • Ability to work from a heat-loss report, system drawings and manufacturer instructions, and flag issues with radiator sizing, pipework or system layout before installation.
  • Ability to pressure-test, flush, fill and balance the system, verify flow rates, set up weather compensation and complete commissioning records.
  • Familiarity with MCS heat pump installation and handover requirements.

A current unvented hot water qualification is required where the role includes installing or commissioning unvented cylinders

Desirable criteria

  • Practical experience installing and commissioning domestic solar PV and split-system air conditioning, plus a recognised solar PV installation qualification.
  • An appropriate individual F-gas qualification for any refrigerant work the role involves, including work on split heat pumps where applicable.
