Your Role
As a Syndicate Reporting Accountant, you will play a key role in the delivery of Apollo's external and regulatory reporting requirements across its Lloyd's syndicates. Working closely with the Syndicate Reporting Manager and wider Finance team, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of Syndicate Report & Accounts, Solvency UK (SUK) reporting, Lloyd's returns, and external stakeholder reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with Lloyd's market experience to further develop their expertise within a broad reporting role, gaining exposure to regulatory change, reporting process improvement, and engagement with stakeholders across Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Data Solutions, external auditors, and capital providers.
What You Will Do
- Produce management information on both a Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ultimate basis, working closely with the FP&A team to support business performance reporting and decision making.
- Deliver Syndicate Report & Accounts, coordinating inputs from stakeholders across the business and managing reporting timelines.
- Produce quarterly and annual Solvency UK (SUK) Quantitative Reporting Templates (QRTs), ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit Lloyd's regulatory returns, including Quarterly Monitoring Returns (QMAs), Realistic Disaster Scenario Returns (RRAs), US Situs reporting, and other required submissions.
- Support external stakeholder reporting, including reporting packs for capital providers and other external parties.
- Act as a key contact for external auditors, coordinating information requests and supporting the smooth delivery of audits.
- Contribute to the development of technical accounting papers, process documentation, and reporting controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and technology utilisation, working alongside the Data Solutions team to implement efficiencies.
- Support wider finance and regulatory reporting activities as required.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience producing Lloyd's market regulatory returns, Syndicate Report & Accounts, and Solvency II or Solvency UK (SUK) reporting.
- Strong understanding of general insurance accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Experience working within the Lloyd's or London Market insurance sector.
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification, or currently studying towards qualification.
- Experience producing management information, financial reporting, or performance reporting within a general insurance environment would be beneficial.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including advanced Excel capability and experience using Power Query.
- Experience working with finance systems, general ledgers, finance data warehouses, and reporting tools.
- Exposure to SQL, Q&A, or similar data extraction and querying tools would be beneficial.
- A proactive approach to process improvement and reporting automation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
