We’re looking for an experienced Platform / DevOps Engineer (Azure Contractor) to join a leading SaaS organisation delivering innovative solutions into the professional services sector. You’ll play a key role in a greenfield platform programme, helping to build and scale modern cloud-native infrastructure supporting next-generation products. This is not a traditional “lift-and-shift” migration - you’ll be working on a forward-thinking transformation initiative, moving a complex product suite toward a fully cloud-native Azure environment.

- Position: Freelance Platform / DevOps Engineer (Azure)
- Duration: 6-month rolling contract (18-month programme)
- Day Rate: ÂŁ(Negotiable & Competitive)
- Location: London (Hybrid: 1 day per week on-site)
- Start Date: ASAP
- IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Core Responsibilities
- Support, enhance, and scale Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments, including cluster operations and security
- Design and manage Azure networking components (VNets, subnets, NSGs, Firewalls, routing, private endpoints)
- Automate infrastructure and operational processes using PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code
- Work closely with platform, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions
- Support migration and rehosting of applications into Azure with minimal refactoring
- Ensure platform reliability, security, and observability across production environments
- Contribute to incident management, platform maintenance, and continuous improvement
- Create and maintain clear operational documentation and runbooks
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
- Solid background in Azure networking within enterprise environments
- Strong PowerShell scripting skills
- Experience working with Azure IaaS and core platform services
- Proven experience supporting production systems in a DevOps or Platform Engineering capacity
- Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, scalability, and security best practices
Nice to Have
- Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
- Exposure to AI/ML or data-driven platforms (beneficial but not required)
- Experience working on cloud transformation or modernisation programmes
- Familiarity with hybrid environments (on-prem to cloud)
