Are you a Registered Nurse looking for a better work-life balance and a role where your clinical expertise directly supports people with complex health needs? If you have experience in complex care, trauma care delivery, critical care, or ICU, this could be your ideal next step.

At Apollo Home Healthcare, we deliver high-quality, person-centred care to adults and children in their own homes. Every package is tailored to our client’s individual needs, and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist you will play a key role in shaping safe, effective, and compassionate clinical care.

About the Role

It is a specialist role that requires clinical expertise along with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads. We are looking for someone who shares our values and is as enthusiastic about care as we are.

You will be based at your local Apollo Home Healthcare office in St Helens, but some flexibility is required as you will be travelling to clients’ homes across Merseyside.

There’s never been a more exciting moment to join the Apollo Home Healthcare team, as we continue to grow, evolve, and expand the impact of the care we provide.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking clinical ownership of complex care caseloads, including the occasional paediatric complex care package.
  • Creating, managing, and reviewing bespoke care plans.
  • Leading and delivering clinical training for Healthcare Assistants and Support Workers.
  • Ensuring safe, compliant, high-quality care in line with national standards.
  • Reviewing clinical documentation, including MAR charts and care records.
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with clients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Providing ongoing mandatory training and development in line with national standards.

This role combines office-based responsibilities with community visits to our clients, focusing on the training, assessment, and competency of Healthcare Assistants and Support Workers.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for passionate and compassionate nurses with experience in:

  • Airway management, including tracheostomy care and suctioning.
  • Ventilation management (invasive and non-invasive).
  • Enteral feeding (PEG / JEJ / NG).

Experience with spinal injuries, acquired brain injuries, degenerative or neurological conditions is beneficial but not essential. Additional training can be provided.

Requirements

  • Valid NMC Pin with at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Flexibility to oversee complex care packages across the East region.

What We Offer

  • No shifts, no on-call and no nights.
  • Salary up to £42,000 pro rata.
  • Access to an achievable bonus scheme.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • An additional day off on your birthday.
  • Loyalty rewards at 3 and 5 years.
  • Paid DBS.

A Note from Our Head of Clinical

The Clinical Nurse Specialist role offers a balance of office-based responsibilities and meaningful time spent with children and families. You will develop bespoke care plans, build strong relationships, and upskill HCAs to deliver safe, effective paediatric clinical care. The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, 9-5, with flexibility where needed and time always given back.
