Apollo’s Asset-Backed Finance business is seeking an Associate to join its Structured Credit Investing team to focus on the analysis and monitoring of structured credit investments, specifically CLOs (“Collateralized Loan Obligations”). This role will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to interface with multiple aspects of the business and gain exposure to primary market tracking and investing, secondary market trading, bespoke transactions, portfolio management and fund level monitoring/reporting, as well as marketing and investor relations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor CLO market transaction activity on a daily basis, helping to track potential investment opportunities. This will require daily communication with bank counterparties on Bloomberg, Outlook, and over the phone.
- Support portfolio managers and traders to screen primary and secondary market opportunities
- Assist in preparation of underwriting memos which will be presented to the investment committee
- Assist with team reporting and reviews of existing positions and portfolios
- Help marketing/investor relations team create presentations for investors such as portfolio updates or new mandate proposals
- Maintain a variety of market intelligence databases
Qualifications & Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in structured credit, fixed income, or similar/relevant roles (banking, sales/trading, etc.)
- Proficient knowledge and ability to execute CLO documentation and use a cashflow modeling system used by the CLO market to analyze deal and investment metrics preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Undergraduate degree with a record of academic achievement
- Excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Robust interpersonal skills to support communication with external counterparties and management of internal stakeholders, both within Credit ecosystem and across broader investment platform
- A “collaboration-first” mindset and a desire to work within a team that values collective results
- Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment; adept at managing competing priorities across multiple projects, transactions, and workstreams
