The Tender Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the bid management process for new business opportunities. They will take responsibility from bid/no-bid stage ensuring the finished delivery documentation is to the highest standard and as per the client requirement.
They will engage with the engineering, business units, 3rd parties, commercial and contractual teams, delegating to relevant personnel on what is needed to meet deadline requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the submission of all bids/tenders and that the bid process is followed.
- Ensuring that timelines for drafting tenders are met and that sufficient time is allowed for review and issue.
- Understand key aspects/drivers for best chances to win proposals.
- Liaison with relevant internal and external stakeholders: commercial, technical and contractual teams.
- Manage tender process including engagement of client, management of bid writing team including technical and commercial teams, receipt of Scope of Work statement of requirements, clarifications process, management and coordination of all technical input, bid writing, issue of documentation, maintaining internal management system (proposal stock), close out (win or lose).
- Set timelines (and monitor schedule) for stage gates.
- Analysing tender documents to determine bid/no-bid decisions and develop win strategies.
- Work with the commercial team to understand how the win strategy will be demonstrated within the documentation.
- Identify commercial and technical risks and how these will be mitigated.
- Ensure bids are compliant.
- Ensure consistency in the process throughout the different service lines of the business.
- Write relevant parts to bids.
- Look for improvements with the templates and tracking progress.
- Lead feedback sessions for continuous improvements, including lessons learnt.
- Any other duties reasonably required by senior management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
- Experience working in a relevant engineering consultancy/EPC industry.
- Proven track record in tender management and coordination of medium and large scale projects.
- Proven communication skills (both written and verbal) with great attention to detail.
- Demonstrable time and people management experience.
