We are seeking a highly organised, diligent and detail-oriented Cost Controller to support accurate and timely financial reporting across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role requires strong analytical capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritise effectively within a fast‑paced consultancy environment. You will work closely with project management, engineering, and planning teams to ensure robust cost control and reliable forecasting across advisory and engineering scopes, ranging from small single-discipline work packages to full EPC projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with project teams to ensure accurate cost reporting against approved budgets.
- Monitor and track actual costs, commitments, variances, and forecasted spend.
- Produce clear, concise internal and client‑facing cost reports, aligned with project and contractual requirements.
- Analyse and communicate the financial impact of project changes, risks and opportunities.
- Ensure all costs are captured accurately, with full transparency and traceability.
- Contribute to project reviews by providing insight on cost performance and forecast trends.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and project management teams to maintain integrated and aligned reporting.
- Maintain and update cost control spreadsheets and tools; create and improve templates where required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Cost Controller or similar project finance role.
- Background in small/medium consultancy or project-based environments (essential).
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Able to manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fully competent in Microsoft Excel (lookup functions, pivot tables, data analysis, dashboards).
- Experience working closely with engineering and planning teams, preferably within the energy, engineering, or project delivery sectors.
- Familiarity with cost control methodologies and project financial principles.
