Location: Muswell Hill and North Finchley

Contract: Long-term / Permanent

Salary: £95 - £115 per day (dependent on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

This is a growing independent day school supporting neurodivergent children and young people aged 7 - 19 with a primary diagnosis of Autism. Pupils are broadly in line with their mainstream peers academically but benefit from additional support with communication, interaction, executive functioning, and emotional regulation. Many students also have co-occurring needs such as ADHD and dyslexia.

The school has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted and holds Advanced Accreditation Status from the National Autistic Society, reflecting its commitment to high-quality specialist education.

The Opportunity

Apollo Education is working with a specialist SEN provision in the Barnet area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Autism (ASD), SEMH, and additional learning needs within a structured and nurturing environment. You will work closely alongside teaching staff to deliver personalised learning and help pupils reach their full potential both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in lessons under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Assist with delivering adapted and differentiated learning activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support where required
  • Help implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and support staff

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly Autism (ASD)
  • Understanding of inclusive practices and differentiated support strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) desirable but not essential
