JOB DETAILS
As a Trainee End User Computing Engineer, you will be training to reach the heart of the island's public service delivery. You won’t just be sitting behind a desk; you will learn the full lifecycle of hardware—from imaging and configuration to onsite deployment and repair across various States of Guernsey sites.
Key Responsibilities (To be developed through training):
- HP Ecosystem & Imaging: Learn to deploy Windows OS images using modern tools like Intune and SCCM, ensuring hardware is tailored to specific departmental needs.
- Onsite Delivery: Travel across the island to various States of Guernsey locations to assist with system installations and provide face-to-face technical support.
- Hardware Mastery: Gain hands-on experience in performing in-house repairs, part replacements, and diagnostics.
- Strategic Collaboration: Assist in working with third-party IT teams and States’ stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment transitions.
- Lifecycle Management: Learn to manage the secure disposal of assets and data in line with strict environmental and security policies.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
You are a technically minded individual who thrives on variety and is eager to build a career in IT.
- Aptitude: A strong interest in PC hardware, software, and how things work.
- Tech-Savvy: Basic familiarity with Windows operating systems. (Exposure to SCCM or Intune is a bonus, but not required).
- Mobile: You must possess a valid driving licence and have access to a personal vehicle for travel between various island sites. We offer a car allowance with this role.
- Reliable: You must satisfy Guernsey Government employment eligibility, background checks, and security clearance.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and a "can-do" attitude when helping customers.
