At Argon, we are passionate about transforming how organisations in the private and public sectors leverage technology. As a customer-focused, multi-discipline service provider, our approach is rooted in building long-term partnerships. We listen closely, understand your goals, and deliver bespoke solutions that optimise processes, enhance performance, and reduce costs—because we believe that one size does not fit all.

Our journey began in 1983, and for over 40 years, we have been at the forefront of delivering innovative technology solutions. The name "Argon," adopted in 2013, reflects our ethos. Like the noble gas it is named after—known for creating stable and secure environments—Argon provides dependable solutions that support businesses through proactive problem-solving and rapid response to challenges.

In March 2023, we proudly became a wholly owned subsidiary of Apogee Group, an HP company. Apogee is Europe’s largest multi-brand supplier of workplace solutions, with operations spanning the UK, Ireland, Jersey, Germany, and Spain. This partnership gives Argon unparalleled access to cutting-edge innovations from one of the world’s leading technology companies, ensuring our customers benefit from the very latest advancements supported by industry-leading service operations.

By working with a network of world-class technology partners, Argon delivers secure, reliable, and future-ready solutions tailored to the unique needs of each business we serve. We are dedicated to enabling organisations to thrive in today’s fast-paced world through smarter, more efficient technology.

Argon Business Systems is growing, and we’re looking for a capable and client-focused 2nd Line Technical Consultant to join our technical team. This role sits at the heart of our service operation, supporting our 1st line analysts with escalations while also working closely with 3rd line engineers on project delivery, infrastructure improvements and policy changes.

You will act as the link between desktop support and back-end infrastructure, so you’ll need solid experience across Microsoft technologies and the confidence to take ownership of more complex issues. Most support is delivered remotely, but there will be times where site visits are needed.

We take pride in delivering a professional, friendly service — so we’re looking for someone who combines technical ability with strong communication and a customer-first approach.

Typical working hours are a 37.5-hour week Monday to Friday and need to cover the hours of 8am and 6pm. However, we are committed to supporting a work-life balance and are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, including part-time hours or alternative schedules, during the interview process. We welcome applications from individuals with commitments outside of work who are seeking a role that aligns with their needs.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Handling escalations from the 1st line/service desk team
  • Supporting the 3rd line team with IT projects, infrastructure work and technical changes
  • Administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Entra, AD, Group Policy, Intune, Defender and related services
  • Providing support across Microsoft 365, Windows desktop OS, Office applications and Apple devices
  • Troubleshooting hardware, peripherals, networking basics and mobile devices
  • Assisting with RDS/virtual environments
  • Delivering occasional on-site support when remote work isn’t an option
  • Sharing knowledge, mentoring team members and contributing to better internal processes

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Around 4+ years’ experience in an IT support environment, with at least a year in a 2nd line role
  • Strong skills across Microsoft services, ideally with certifications such as MD-102 or MS-102
  • Confidence supporting Windows OS, M365 apps, hardware diagnostics and general troubleshooting
  • A grounding in networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, basic configuration and fault-finding
  • Experience with Microsoft Server OS for basic admin tasks
  • A clear, logical approach to problem-solving under pressure
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn and willingness to help others
  • Full clean driving licence (required)
  • Ability to meet security-vetting requirements & DBS

We value candidates with AI literacy – individuals who are curious about technology, comfortable exploring automation, and eager to contribute to a modern, forward-thinking business.

Benefits:

  • Flexible Working Options: We appreciate the need for flexibility and offer options that allow you to balance work and life commitments effectively.
  • Annual Leave: Take advantage of 25 days of paid holiday every year, in addition to the 10 Bank and Public Holidays observed on the Isle of Man.
  • Pension Scheme: After 12 months of continuous service, you will be eligible for our Company Pension Plan.

Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our success. We know true innovation flourishes when people can be their authentic selves. As an Equal Opportunity Employer we welcome applications from all backgrounds, and we actively value different perspectives across age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, religion and belief.

We support flexibility and accessibility.
