Location – Barrow In Furness, LA14 4QS

Hours – 4 on 4 off shift pattern which includes days & nights

We’re currently looking to recruit a Fire Safety Officer to join our team in Barrow and will play a critical role in minimising the risk of fire at our client’s site, and when required provide coordinated emergency responses to Fire and First Aid Incidents. As part of the Fire Safety Team, you will also be responsible for carrying out and/or auditing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) of fire equipment and fire training. Being a key member of the wider site team, you will need to develop strong, customer centric, trusted, and personable relationships with all key stakeholders within Apleona and the Client organisations.

The position requires an individual with a proactive, diligent, and conscientious approach to the work environment. As part of the role, you will:

  • Proactively identify and address or escape incidents or practices that breach internal requirements, external regulation or present a risk to Health and Safety or business operations.
  • Ensure all permits, records, and notices are up to date and managed in a timely manner.
  • Investigate and provide written reports on incidents including recommendations.
  • When on duty and as required, be the Fire Team’s representative on the Incident Response Team (IRT).
  • Maintain and repair portable Fire Extinguishers to BS 5306 Part 3 1985 (Section 3) Fire Extinguisher.
  • Maintain and repair Portable Fire Hose Reels.
  • Replacement of damaged or spent Sprinkler Heads.
  • Conduct practical training and exposure to basic Fire Fighting Techniques.

As an Apleona Fire Safety Officer, we’re looking for:

  • Minimum GCSE Maths & English.
  • Computer literacy and familiar with MS office applications.
  • Basic Fire Fighting Techniques.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Experience in Maintaining and repairing portable Fire Extinguishers to BS 5306 Part 3 1985 (Section 3) Fire Extinguisher.
  • Valid UK driving licence - Essential.
