Product & Distribution Strategy Analytics is growing! We’re opening a new role to support some of the most important questions facing the Personal Wealth business—how we drive growth, retain clients, and plan for what’s next. As part of this horizontal analytics team, you’ll partner closely with both Product and Distribution leaders and work across key workstreams including Cash Flow, Retention, and Forecasting. The role spans a wide range of analytical work, from ownership of core metrics and reporting to deeper driver analysis, time‑series modeling, and AI/ML solutions that help inform growth and retention strategy for the division. Responsibilities
- Engages with internal partners to understand business strategy, questions and goals.
- Brings structure to business requests, translates requirements into an analytical project approach, and leads complex projects through completion.
- Delegates tasks and provides tactical and strategic guidance to peers.
- Serves as the analytics expert on cross‑functional teams for large strategic initiatives.
- Acquires and compiles structured and unstructured data and verifies its quality, accuracy and reasonableness.
- Performs analyses of historical data to surface trends and insights using advanced analytical methods.
- Validates analytical techniques employed by other analysts.
- Prepares and delivers expert level visualizations and internal presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business partners to implement.
- Develops, owns and manages recurring analytic or reporting processes.
- Actively develops the analytics community at Vanguard by mentoring, coaching and connecting others with resources and training.
- Participates and presents during scheduled analytics seminars.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years related work experience. Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
- Expert‑level SQL with experience building, validating, and maintaining complex queries and datasets used for executive reporting and analysis.
- Strong Tableau skills, including designing intuitive, business‑ready dashboards and translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Advanced Python experience for analysis, modeling, and automation (e.g., pandas, NumPy, stats/ML libraries).
- Proven data science skillset, including:
- Driver and root‑cause analysis
- Time‑series forecasting and trend analysis
- Segmentation and exploratory modeling
- Applying AI/ML techniques to real business problems
- Ability to partner closely with business stakeholders to translate ambiguous questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations.
- Comfortable working across reporting and deep‑dive analytics—owning both the “what happened” and the “why it happened / what’s next”.
