Apidura is seeking a talented Senior Soft Goods Designer to join its London based Product Team. Working closely with the team, product ambassadors and suppliers, the individual will combine technical innovation, fabric and materials knowledge, creativity and attention to detail to create products that continue to set new standards in this exciting field.

Responsibilities

  • Generating innovative product concepts in line with Apidura’s design philosophy and quality standards.
  • Managing the product creation process from ideation to finalised commercial product.
  • Interacting with the factories and being involved with the prototyping and manufacturing process.
  • Effectively communicate and present design concepts, within the team and wider.
  • Identifying, researching and sourcing new fabrics/materials and production processes.
  • Sourcing, evaluating and negotiating with new manufacturing partners.
  • Evaluating designs for opportunities to enhance performance, quality, and cost.
  • Processing consumer insights to inform product design and development.
  • Working with the wider team to create product and performance descriptions, as well as marketing materials.
  • Understanding and adopting future trends in design, technology, and materials.
  • Working closely with the product team to develop factory-ready samples.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience successfully bringing products from ideation to commercialisation.
  • A strong understanding of materials and industrial fabrication processes; ideally supported by a background in industrial design with experience covering soft goods or other fabric-based products.
  • A full understanding of both creative and technical design, as well as of product costing models.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to liaise successfully with factories, suppliers and management.
  • The ability to understand and adhere to product development timelines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, a creative eye, and the ability to design outside the box.
  • Thrives on problem-solving, consistently pushing forward innovative designs.
  • Interest, energy and flexibility to work in the fast-paced environment of a growing business and wear multiple hats.
  • A degree in outdoor product design or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in outdoor / sporting goods design or related field.
  • Full literacy in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A persistent attitude and self-motivated working style.
