Are you passionate about using data, technology, and payments expertise to drive tangible customer value? We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Product, Payments Optimisation to lead the evolution of our optimisation and orchestration products, scaling them to the next level. You’ll operate at the intersection of Product, Data Science, and Commercial teams, translating analytical insights into measurable business outcomes for our customers and for APEXX. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting complex technical capabilities with commercial value, inspiring cross‑functional alignment, and ensuring optimisation becomes a core growth driver for the company. If you thrive on solving complex payment challenges, shaping intelligent optimisation products, and communicating value with clarity and conviction, we’d love to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Product Strategy & Commercial Ownership: Define and drive the long‑term strategy and roadmap for APEXX’s Optimisation and Orchestration suite, ensuring clear differentiation and customer value. Establish the commercial framework for optimisation, working with Finance, Sales, and Product Marketing to design value‑based pricing models. Lead the evolution of optimisation from a capability into a scalable product line, influencing its positioning, packaging, and monetisation. Provide thought leadership across the organisation on the role of AI and data‑driven optimisation in payments.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Delivery: Partner with Engineering and Data Science to develop AI/ML‑powered optimisation features that improve authorisation, reduce cost, and drive measurable performance gains. Work closely with Sales, Relationship Management, and Marketing teams to articulate product value and support commercial success across the portfolio. Drive alignment across teams, ensuring strategic intent translates into customer‑ready, high‑impact product delivery.
- Customer Value, Growth & Commercial Enablement: Translate model performance and analytical insights into ROI‑focused, commercially compelling narratives for customers and internal stakeholders. Enable Sales and Relationship Managers to position and sell optimisation as a premium, value‑generating product. Be the subject‑matter expert on Interchange and Scheme fee pricing and optimisation opportunities. Partner with customers to identify where data, AI, and automation can unlock incremental efficiency, acceptance rates, or cost reduction. Contribute directly to upsell and cross‑sell opportunities, helping turn product performance into revenue growth.
- Product Excellence & Evidence Driven Decision Making: Define success metrics, experimentation frameworks, and governance around optimisation performance. Promote strong product management discipline — discovery, validation, delivery, and measurement — across optimisation workstreams. Use data and evidence to balance strategic ambition with operational focus, ensuring decisions are measurable and outcomes are sustainable.
