To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team.
A Little More About Your Role
You will provide low voltage electrical design and consultancy services for nationally significant clients, supporting technical leads on complex engineering projects. You can expect to work on a diverse range of projects for clients in major public and private sector organisations and will become part of a respected and ambitious company supported with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
The type of work we undertake is extremely varied but includes:
- Small and large scale Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure feasibility studies, design, and technical assurance roles.
- A wide variety ranging from low powered local authority (LEVI) chargers right through to major multi-vector refuelling hubs integrating megawatt charging systems and other low carbon fuels.
- Specification and design of renewable energy generation & energy storage systems to support our clients decarbonisation and net-zero goals to deliver a more sustainable world.
- The design of innovative urban realm regeneration projects by creating beautiful, vibrant and pleasant public spaces for people to work, live and play in.
- Highway electrical design and assurance across local authority and National Highways client bases.
No two days will be the same, but you could be expected to:
- Support the design team lead on larger scale projects to strive towards a right first-time approach focusing on high-quality outputs.
- The identification and mitigation of risks is a key aspect to ensure designs are safe and compliance with CDM regulations.
- For smaller scale projects you would be expected to carry out a discipline lead role and be accountable for your disciplines resourcing and ensuring delivery is on track, both commercially and according to the agreed project programme.
- Reporting any issues encountered in a proactive and timely fashion.
- Contribute within project meetings and reviews to provide input with regards your project responsibilities.
- Coordinate and communicate with other design teams and stakeholders across all projects.
- This is essential at all stages of projects from understanding scope, identifying your dependencies and right through to later project lifecycle stages such as clash detection workshops.
- Depending on your knowledge and experience you may mentor and develop other technicians and engineers to aid their continued professional development.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
- A track record of performing to a high standard whilst undertaking low voltage electrical design preferably within the UK transportation sector.
- Knowledge and experience of providing feasibility, design, installation, maintenance, or technical assurance services within the UK electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure sector and/or the wider UK transportation (road/rail) sector.
- Willingness to develop and grow by taking responsibility for your technical output, programme and financial performance of your work packages.
- Evidence of being a confident communicator and the able to convey your point of view and keep stakeholders informed.
- Have, or seeking to have, registration with the Engineering Council and active membership with a professional institution.
- Hold City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulation certification (C&G 2382).
- Experience with the following software packages is beneficial but not essential: AutoCAD, Trimble Amtech ProDesign and Modecsoft ElectricalOM.
