The Workday Payroll Compare Expert plays a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency through the use of Workday’s payroll comparison tools. This role involves deep analysis of payroll data across systems and periods, identifying discrepancies, and implementing solutions to streamline payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration and reporting, and a strong understanding of payroll compliance and auditing. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, stakeholder management, and the ability to innovate with complex payroll environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide key support to the Payroll workstream on a Workday implementation project.
  • Support the creation of work plans for large complex global engagements, owning risk, budget, resources, client relationships, etc.
  • Researching and resolving day-to-day Workday Payroll issues.
  • Work with client to support the new requirements for Payroll in Workday.
  • Support the Implementation Partner in creating and updating Workday configurations based on requirement changes.
  • Provide support for regular and special Payroll processes in Workday.
  • Provide support for Payroll activities like posting, bank transfer and pay checks in Workday.
  • Provide support for Legal and regulatory reports in Workday.
  • Provide support for year-end reporting and other year-end activities in Workday.
  • Identify strategies, risks, and options, recommend approaches and mitigations to meet client/functional requirements.
  • Architect Workday Payroll solutions to ensure that all work streams are cohesive and cross-functional impacts are considered and mitigated.
  • Advise clients on industry standards and leading practices.
  • Demonstrate design options through the use of prototyping.
  • Understand and apply Workday and Deloitte methodologies.
  • Provide the Project Manager with status updates and keep them apprised of overall project status.
  • Demonstrate strong client and stakeholder management to achieve project objectives.
  • Support innovation through the creation of new industry-leading methods and assets.
  • Experience with UKG Time tracking system.
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite.
  • Proficiency in Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs etc.).
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes and benefits.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Workday Payroll Compare functionality to support payroll audits, reconciliations, and data integrity across pay periods and systems (Workday, Oracle E-Business Suite and UKG).
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies, root causes and trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to summarise findings, highlight trends and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to gather requirements, optimise payroll processes, and mitigate cross-functional impacts.
  • Create and maintain documentation for payroll comparison workflows and configurations.
  • Provide training and support to payroll, Benefits, and HR teams on comparison tools and best practices.
  • Monitor payroll processing for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Stay current with Workday updates and industry trends related to payroll and data comparison.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with Workday Payroll, including configuration, reporting, and Payroll comparison tools.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, benefits, tax regulations, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Experience with payroll reconciliation and audit processes.
  • Proficiency in Workday reporting tools (e.g., Calculated Fields, Composite and Advanced Reports).
  • Working knowledge of General Ledger processes and payroll integrations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • 3+ years experience with UKG.
  • 3+ years with Oracle HCM system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday Payroll certification.
  • Experience with Workday integrations (e.g., time tracking, benefits).
  • Familiarity with other Workday modules such as HCM and Time Tracking.
  • Experience in large-scale Workday implementations or upgrades.
