Job Overview

Apex Scotland is a leading employment and training organisation specialising in supporting people with convictions. We are seeking a full‑time Practitioner (35 hours per week) to join our National Upside Service covering the Tayside area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide throughcare support to people in short‑term custody or remand, helping them transition to community life.
  • Collaborate with the Scottish Prison Service, Community Justice Social Work and other agencies across Scotland.
  • Complete dynamic risk assessments and follow safeguarding practices.
  • Deliver a tailored, person‑centred engagement experience to participants.
  • Maintain accurate databases and record‑keeping.
  • Travel as required throughout the country.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience working in a community environment.
  • Knowledge of throughcare support and/or criminal justice systems is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with participants, prison workers, SPS, social work and partners.
  • Excellent communication, flexibility, and organisational skills.
  • Valid driving licence or access to reliable transport.
  • Membership of the Prevention of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme required.
  • May require evening or weekend working.
