Apex Scotland offers a diverse range of services for young people and adults to help them break down barriers to employment, engage in education or integrate into their communities. Upside is a national throughcare service, available in all parts of Scotland. Throughcare provides people in short-term custody or remand with the practical and emotional support they need to transition to community life. The service delivers this in partnership with the Scottish Prison Service, Community Justice Social Work and other agencies across Scotland.
Full‑time Practitioner position in the National Upside Service (35 hours per week) covering the Tayside area.
Responsibilities
- Work with participants in the Upside service to deliver tailored, responsive support, focusing on meeting participants where they are and addressing immediate challenges.
- Collaborate with prison workers, SPS, social work and other partners to build sustainable futures for participants.
- Complete dynamic and robust risk assessments and follow safeguarding practices.
- Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively in partnership.
- Make occasional evening or weekend work as required.
- Travel throughout the country as necessary.
Qualifications / Experience
- Experience working in a community environment.
- Understanding of Throughcare support (advantage).
- Knowledge and experience in working with databases (advantage).
- Driving licence or access to a means of transport; some travel may be required.
Requirements
- Membership of the Prevention of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is required.
- Post funded until end of March 2028.
